Six meetings across the country and here are the specials from Racing and Sports.
CONCORD CONNIE (3) settled well back over 1200m at Ballarat on debut, but powered home beaten a nose. She was backed off the map and resumes today, owning a 1000m jumpout win at this track. Will be naturally improved, and on what we've seen, she can open her winning account.
JASIRA (3) took advantage of the good draw when resuming from a spell last start and led for much of the way before finishing second, beaten less than a length at Albury. Well-placed and will take catching.
THE MAILER (4) was safely held in a much richer maiden fresh then ran a much-improved race out to a similar journey when beaten less than a length. Blinkers added and expected to go close.
PIMLICO (4) held in high regard by the stable and returns a gelding. Got off the mark at start four, then came to town with a battling fourth over 1200m at Rosehill Gardens in BM 68 class. Fitted with the two slick trials and gets the right set-up from the good gate. Hard to hold out.
SOUTHLAND (1) looks a handy galloper on the way up, ending last campaign with a 0.3L defeat over 1200m here when jumping the favourite. The form out of that worked out well and he's unbeaten in his first-up efforts, both over this track and trip. Maps to get every chance and can keep his unbeaten fresh record intact.
SHE'S SPEEDY (4) switched from a Victorian yard and turned in a fine effort to score by half a length this course/distance in Maiden grade. She was heavily backed and has more up her sleeve. Wiggins stays aboard, and from a handy barrier she can take the next step.
