Eight meetings across the country and here are the specials from Racing and Sports.
MATIAS (1) indicated a win was imminent at his second run back with a closing third over 1600m here in the G3 Carbine. Meets them better at the set weights here and ticks a few boxes from the low draw. Hard to stop.
ERNIEGY (3) was responsible for a solid effort last time out when second at Beaumont (Newcastle) over 1350m. Should be at his peak now and shapes as a leading chance in this company.
PARIS COLLECTION (14) had her first start here and didn't make much of an impression but ran a much-improved race at Kyneton last time out when beaten a long neck. Had trialled well in between runs, so that wasn't a shock and draws to go on with it here.
Really keen to stick with lightly raced filly ARLINGTON ROW (8) who has won her past two impressively. The margin was only a neck at Cranbourne last time but she ran strong overall time in a good BM64. She drops 2kg into this and Meech sticking from barrier one sees her hold the front and prove very hard to run down.
SAILOR'S SECRET (3) loves it here around this circuit with four wins and a second from just five spins and will be full of confidence following back-to-back victories. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and gets some weight relief with the 2kg claim.
WESTBOUND (5) settled last on resumption over this track and trip but rallied strongly to finish 1.4L off the winner. He's sure to be better for that run and I suspect he sits closer this time around with Berry in the saddle. Can improve second-up and continue his rise through the grades with the blinkers on for the first time.
EXIT (6) is a progressive Maher filly who looks to be putting it all together now. Her Flemington win last start was smart, and if she holds that level she should be taking care of these.
