TAKEN (9) consistent miler ready to win after finally coming up with a good gate. Covered plenty of ground in the run and never surrendered with a narrow second over 1600m in the LR Anniversary Vase at Caulfield. Gets the gun run and due for a change of luck.
Cracking edition of the Golden Mile, and the betting will be a huge factor with ZAHRANN (5), an import now with Ciaron Maher. He was last seen starting $6.50 in a G1 Irish Champion Stakes won by a very, very good horse in Delacroix. Zahrann was well beaten there but his G3 win prior was soft against some handy ones. Four trials suggests intent and if he brings that form, expect him to go close.
PATH TO VICTORY (6) finished out of the money on debut two starts back then he was always well out of his ground and was beaten 3.5 lengths when fifth over 1607m at Stawell two weeks ago. With those runs under the belt, and the modest nature of this contest, he looks hard to beat.
IMMEDIATE (5) has three placings from five outings this prep and last start led beaten 0.8 lengths over 1200m at Gold Coast turf. In the premier metro yard and has his first go on the all-weather. Should have the early speed to skip across, and she gets in well with the 2kg claim.
ALL ADORE (9) bolted in two back at the Sapphire Coast then made the long trek to Eagle Farm a fortnight ago and was even more impressive against smarter horses. Loving the soft tracks and with nothing on her back she can chalk up the hat trick.
ROHESIA (6) was impressive in the H C Nitschke Stakes, cruising past them in the straight with something in hand. The step up to a mile looks ideal and she can make it three straight.
HIGHLANDS (5) is a former Victorian who had first run for new yard over 1100m and turned in a fair run to finish fifth. Fitter and extra trip a plus. Best career form has been when second-up from a spell and expecting a far better run this time.
