Ivan Soldo has announced his immediate retirement from the AFL, bringing an end to a career that included a premiership with Richmond and a brief stint at Port Adelaide.

The 30-year-old ruckman played 57 games for Richmond between 2015 and 2023, highlighted by the club's 2019 grand final win. He later joined Port Adelaide in 2024, adding nine appearances, though his time at the club was disrupted by injuries.

Soldo's decision follows a ruptured ACL sustained in February, which ruled him out for the entire 2026 season. In a club statement, he thanked teammates, coaches, staff and supporters at both Port Adelaide and Richmond, reflecting on a decade in the system and the role it played in shaping his career.

He acknowledged the challenges he faced, particularly with injuries, but said he was proud of his contribution and the experiences gained across both clubs. Soldo also expressed appreciation for teammates and fans, noting their support throughout his career.

Port Adelaide football manager Ben Rutten said Soldo could take pride in his achievements, particularly his role in Richmond's premiership, and thanked him for his commitment despite recent setbacks.

Tributes followed across the AFL community. Former Richmond captain Trent Cotchin, Port teammate Zak Butters and several ex-teammates responded to Soldo's social media post, which marked the end of a 13-year football journey.

Soldo's partner, Chelsea Becirevic, also shared a personal message, describing his career as a significant chapter and expressing pride in his achievements. Richmond's official account congratulated him on his career and acknowledged his contribution to the club's 2019 premiership success.
