Abhishek Sharma’s unbeaten 135 powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a comfortable win after a steady start from Travis Head.
Travis Head is still searching for his top form this IPL season, but his role in a productive opening stand helped lay the foundation for Abhishek Sharma to dominate as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs.
Sharma produced a standout innings, finishing unbeaten on 135 from 68 balls, as Sunrisers posted 2-242 from their 20 overs. Delhi never fully recovered in the chase and closed on 9-195.
The opening pair, often referred to as Travishek, did not reach their usual early acceleration but still set a solid platform.
They scored 67 in the powerplay and added 97 runs in 53 balls before Head was dismissed for 37 from 26 deliveries, caught after attempting an attacking shot off Axar Patel.
Head's season tally now sits at 180 runs at an average of 25.71, with no half-century yet, though his partnership work again proved valuable in setting up a strong total.
Sharma remained the central figure throughout. He struck ten sixes and ten fours, controlling the innings even as wickets fell around him.
Ishan Kishan contributed a quick 25 before being run out, while Heinrich Klaasen added late momentum with an unbeaten 37 from 13 balls.
In reply, Delhi made a steady start but slipped during the middle overs. Nitesh Rana top-scored with 57 from 30 balls, yet a collapse of three wickets in five deliveries halted their progress.
Eshan Malinga led the bowling effort with 4-32, helping Sunrisers close out the match comfortably. Earlier, impact player Dilshan Madushanka made an immediate contribution by removing Pathum Nissanka.
The result lifts Sunrisers into third place on the table, level on eight points with two other teams and trailing the competition leaders, coached by Ricky Ponting, on 10 points.
