Rory McIlroy and Lando Norris were among the winners at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, recognised for their outstanding achievements in 2025.

McIlroy claimed the Comeback of the Year award after a historic season highlighted by his long-awaited victory at The Masters. His triumph at Augusta completed the career Grand Slam, making him only the sixth player in history to win all four major championships.

The 36-year-old, who also won the Masters again earlier this month, described the achievement as one of the most meaningful moments of his career after years of near misses.

Meanwhile, Norris secured the Breakthrough of the Year award following his maiden Formula 1 world title, overcoming competition from Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.

In other categories, Carlos Alcaraz was named Sportsman of the Year after winning multiple titles and finishing as world number one, while Aryna Sabalenka claimed the Sportswoman of the Year award after securing four titles, including the US Open.

Paris Saint-Germain were named Team of the Year following their Champions League success.

Chloe Kim won Action Sportsperson of the Year, Lamine Yamal was named Young Sportsperson of the Year, and Gabriel Araujo took the disability sport award.

Toni Kroos received the Sporting Inspiration award, while Nadia Comaneci was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. The Sport for Good award went to Fútbol Más.
