Cameron Norrie exited the Barcelona Open after a straight-sets quarter-final defeat to teenage Spaniard Rafael Jodar.

The 19-year-old secured a 6-3 6-2 win in 69 minutes on clay at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona. Jodar, who was ranked outside the world's top 600 a year ago, showed composure early, trading breaks across the opening five games before taking control of the first set.

Norrie held serve in his first two games of the second set, but at 2-2 Jodar raised his level and pulled away to seal victory. The Spaniard later said he handled key moments and pressure situations effectively, while stressing there was more work ahead in the tournament.

The win marks Jodar's third victory over a top-30 opponent, having also beaten Norrie earlier this year at the Mexican Open and American Learner Tien at the Next Gen ATP Finals.

Elsewhere, Katie Boulter saw her first tour-level clay quarter-final end in defeat at the Open de Rouen. The British number three lost 6-4 6-1 to 19-year-old Ukrainian Veronika Podrez, who is ranked 209th in the world.

At the Stuttgart Open, reigning French Open champion Coco Gauff suffered her first career defeat to Karolina Muchova. The Czech seventh seed claimed a 6-3 5-7 6-3 victory and will face Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals.

World number two Elena Rybakina fought back to beat Leylah Fernandez 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 7-6 (8-6), setting up a meeting with Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva. Andreeva advanced after defeating Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek 3-6 6-4 6-3.
