Chris Scholtz reviews barrier trials at Canterbury on April 10, Warwick Farm on April 13 and Gosford on April 13.
WARWICK FARM April 13
Inside Grass; Good 4
14 Heats – 3 x 1200m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); 4 x 801m (4 Open); 4 x 798m (1 Open; 3 2YO); 3 x 795m (3 Maiden)
A smart 4Yo is set to build on his strong record after a strong return from a spell.
JAIPUR MAISON (Chris Waller): This Zousain filly didn't run to expectations in her first two starts in November but this impressive trial underlines that she has the talent. Came from last with an impressive late surge to finish fifth in her 798m heat won by PYRA (47.62; 34.06) with her work through the line an excellent pointer to her future prospects.
LYLES (Matthew Smith): He's won four of his eight starts and there's more to come for the Exceed And Excel 4YO after his confident work to win his first trial since his string of spring wins. Did it with style to lead and easily hold the smart filly CONFIDENTIALITY for a soft win in his 798m heat (47.21; 33.44).
Other open company trials of note included the eye catching finish of SIRAGOSA for second in a good 801m open heat won by the smart CASSEROUSSE in fast time (46.92; 33.45). Other good open trials included the heat winner SUNDAY TYCOON and eye catchers from FIREBALL MISS, CHICAMA, PRESIDENT and LULUMON.
Youngsters to follow from the 2YO heats include the heat winners TI AMO and THE PUZZLE while the maidens to impress included previously noted HAMMOON HEROINE, WHOA NELLIE and KONSA.

A big set using the best track for Sydney trials, the numbers evidence from trainers why it should be the regular trial venue.
BEIWACHT (Chris Waller): Showed he's ready for a peak performance cruising through his 900m heat with style (54.14; 34.02), doing it easily from start to finish under no pressure.
Beiwacht leads all the way under @nashhot to win a trial at Canterbury on Friday. The @godolphin Group 1 winner did it easily on the line beating King Of Sparta and Glorious Moments. the recently gelded El Castello in behind them. @tabcomau pic.twitter.com/4E3Sm64Q3J

LULL (Ciaron Maher): Talented 3YO has won two of her six starts with her first trial since January showing she is set to add to that record. Never off the bit to stroll home in her 898m heat (54.33; 34.52) with plenty in reserve.
WILD ATLANTIC (Hawkes Racing): Unraced Exceed And Excel colt gets better with every trial. After giving his two previous trial wins star ratings he did it again with another classy performance to beat the talented WHITEHALL in his 898m heat. The form is certain to stand up on race day despite the slow time (56.50; 35.92).
There were numerous good trials by some classy performers, not the least being the Golden Slipper winner LADY OF CAMELOT showing her natural speed to win a fast 900m heat (53.92; 33.71) in her just her second trial since her 12 months break from racing. It was a heat with plenty of depth where the closing efforts of ANGEL CAPITAL and GUMDROPS could not be missed.

PRIVATE HARRY is another class act returning from an enforced break and stable change to Chris Waller. He did enough to win the fastest 900m heat (53.35; 34.10) while still looking below peak fitness as he was pushed out to win after taking the sit off the leader. The closing efforts of OSTRAKA and WARNIE were the ones making an impression.

The eight 2YO heats over 900m and 898m were full of potential winners. WILD ATLANTIC was the standout but other good heat winners included DR KNOW (54.17; 34.43), SEEIAYE (55.48; 34.95) and AFFARI (55.05; 34.68) while the eye catchers included KEEN TO EXCEED, WHITEHALL, FOUND THE GOLD, MYSTICAL, CLOUDY SCOUT and SEMANTICS.
