Not just the Derby but the other races provided lots of excitement.
There was a secret tip for the New Orleans Classic when the Bugler played the Disney theme in calling the horses on to the track, and Touchuponastar had to win after that! Accelerize was scratched so the only real opposition came in the form of Corporate Power on 6.5 who filled second place.
The Muniz Memorial saw Lagynos home for Asmussen- J L Ortiz with "roughie" Tom's Magic second of the seven runners. This was Ortiz's fifth winner of the day!
However the Oaks was a bit of an upset when Life of Joy sailed past Bella Ballerina to win for Cox-Prat with Luv Your Neighbour third.
The Derby was a thrilling finish with the first three all vying for the top position down the straight until eventually Emerging Market summoned one last effort to get his head in from of Pavlovian's. Pavlovian had gone off at 21.0 and ran a blinder. Golden Tempo was just a bit behind them to finish third.
