The Oaklawn Handicap Gr 2 over 1800m turned out to be sensational.

There were six runners – three super stars and three others.  The three superstars – Sovereignty, Horse of Year in 2025, Journalism and White Abarrio all had wins in much bigger Gr 1 contests.  Everyone expected White Abarrio to lead – he didn't.  Sovereignty jumped well and took the lead with Journalism on his heels and White Abarrio sitting further back until they came to the 800 metres when Irad Ortiz said to White Abarrio OK now we go and they did, finishing up 2 lengths in front of Sovereignty and 1 ½ lengths further back to Journalism.

It was a beautiful will but White Abarrio had a secret weapon – his best friend Brownie, a goat, had travelled with him and was in the adjoining box and supervising everything so White Abarrio was probably given secret instructions by Brownie not to lead.  Who knows?  That's our story and we're sticking to it.
