A trip to Adelaide in search for Black Type will see Twilight Elegance run in the Port Adelaide Cup.
The potential of picking up some important Black Type has led the Ciaron Maher stable to head to Adelaide with Twilight Elegance.
The Listed Port Adelaide Cup (2518m) at Morphettville on Saturday will be the mare's chance to pick up some Black Type and, more importantly, improve her value as a potential broodmare.
Twilight Elegance had been down to run at Flemington last Saturday, but after the stable took a look at the long-range forecast which suggested rain was on the way, the team decided to pivot towards Adelaide.
The Adelaide forecast for Saturday is for 25c with between 3-10mm of rain predicted.
Twilight Elegance was successful over 2500m on a Soft 5 track at Pakenham last month before running fifth to The Western Front over 2400m at Caulfield on April 4.
The Western Front won the race that Twilight Elegance was withdrawn from last Saturday.
Jack Turnbull, the National Assistant Trainer for Ciaron Maher Racing, said Saturday's race presented itself at the right time and was a good opportunity for Twilight Elegance to pick up some important Black Type.
"She ran well at Caulfield last start after winning over the trip at Pakenham," Turnbull said.
"For an opportunity to run in a Listed race and attempt to get some all-important Black Type on her page, it makes sense.
"We know she wants ground and if we do get some rain, then that will only enhance her chances."
The Port Adelaide Cup has drawn together a field of 11 runners with Twilight Elegance drawing in barrier seven with Jamie Melham aboard.
Sir Kingsford is looking to go back-to-back in the race having scored under Teagan Voorham last year.
