Sam King is back with three selections on Thursday.
Aidan O'Brien cleaned up both Chester trials yesterday and looks to have every chance of landing yet another Dee Stakes with Constitution River this afternoon, while Jan Brueghel sets a tall standard in the Oromonde.
The opening CAA Stellar Handicap (1.30) looks another competitive handicap sprint and it's no shock to see last year's winner Roman Dragon, who returns to defend his crown off the same mark, top of the market for the Hugo Palmer and Oisin Murphy combination.
He clearly has excellent claims back at this venue and on peak form but he's probably short enough in the betting and was disappointing at Leicester last time out. With that in mind, Rubys Profit is preferred.
This speedy daughter of Profitable was placed on her sole outing over this course and distance and arrives having caught the eye at Bath just three days ago. She found herself slightly outpaced at the two-furlong marker before coming home strongly to finish a close-up fourth and it is interesting connections have opted to turn her out quickly.
Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole's filly is well-drawn to adopt a handy position from stall two and looks on a fair mark based on her overall profile.
1pt Win – Ruby's Profit
Odds – 5/1
McMurray holds leading claims for the 2000 Guineas winning combination of George Boughey and Billy Loughnane in the Xenon Workplace Handicap (3.40) but at a much bigger price, Command The Stars must be considered as an each-way option.
The George Scott team have been quietly going about their business in an extremely successful manner in recent weeks, operating at a tasty 40% strike-rate having saddled six winners from just fifteen runners over the last fortnight.
A Listed winner on testing ground in France last season, Command The Stars was set a lofty target in the Feilden Stakes on his seasonal reappearance but failed to really show his true running, racing keenly on the front end before fading tamely out of contention.
Being a son of Sea The Stars out of an Archipenko mare, stepping up to nine furlongs should have suited on pedigree but this unexposed three-year-old showed plenty of natural speed at two and it's no shock to see connections drop back to seven and a half furlongs here.
He's badly drawn in stall ten but that might force Darragh Keenan's hand to drop-in and help him relax, while the first-time hood is also an interesting addition back round a turning track like Chester.
The form of his York second between both Stellar Sunrise and Special Dividend, who performed with immense credit in stakes company in Meydan over the winter, suggests this mark of 94 could still be workable.
He'll need to settle better but could be dangerous to discount at a big price.
0.5pt Each-way – Command The Stars
Odds – 20/1
Jupiter Ammon has looked to been crying out for cheekpieces and he finally gets the first-time headgear in the penultimate Halliwell Jones Handicap (4.10).
There's no doubt that his record of 0-10 is a concern but the application of cheekpieces ought to just help him concentrate in the latter stages of his races, something that seemed to be evident when fourth behind Rathgar at Newbury last time out.
That Newbury race could prove one to follow in the coming months, with the winner going on to follow-up in a decent Epsom handicap next time out.
Andrew Balding does well at Chester with his select team and is already on the board with a winner yesterday, while his latest contender has been helped by a good draw in stall four.
He should have no problems with the unique challenges that the Roodee has to offer and can belatedly get off the mark from the foot of the weights.
1pt Win – Jupiter Ammon
Odds – 2/1
