** RACE 1 - RACING AND SPORTS BEST BET
The babies kick us off. PIXIE LANE (4) just ran into one better over this track and trip on debut and will have derived a bunch of benefit from that day at the races. Hoop Du Plessis sticks in the saddle and maps nicely for this from gate three. Looks the one they all have to run down. MAGANISTA (7) resumes here but the form she showed in her first preparation was good enough for a race of this calibre. Can run a big race while fresh. POWERFILLY (5) is facing the starter for the first time but showed ability in her only metro trial. Keep very safe. FORMAL AFFAIR (3) is another on debut and any market confidence must be noted. STORM PETAL (6) next in line out of the Robl barn.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Pixie Lane to shed the maiden tag.
RACE 2
PROMISES MADE (4) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top-four in three of her past four outings and strikes a very winnable contest here. Will be rock-hard fit for this and must be respected out of the champion Chris Waller yard. Rates the testing material. CLASSIC SHIRAZ (8) placed over this course and distance two back before not being disgraced in town last time out. Looms as the main danger. LITTLE LUNCH (6) has gotten better with each run this time in work and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Top-three credentials. PEPE (3) brings NSW formlines to the table and should find this assignment a touch easier. In the mix. MR RACING (2) next best with the Vandyke/Wiggins combination.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Promises Made to break through.
RACE 3
OAKFIELD GALAXY (6) was a touch disappointing last time out but go on the solid runner-up finish at the Gold Coast two back. Has placed over this track and trip and gets some weight relief with the 1.5kg claim. Sure to be right there when the whips are cracking. BIG TECH (1) will be ready to peak now fourth run back from a spell and is drawn to get a cosy run in transit from the inside marble. Gets his chance to break the ice. HELL TO THE LINE (2) is knocking on the door of a maiden victory finishing runner-up in three of his past four starts. Has to be included in calculations. CONTINENT (4) resumes here but showed ability when last in work and has revved up for this with two recent trials. Should be hitting the line with gusto. KIDS INTHE KITCHEN (3) next best despite the wide draw.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Trifecta 6,1,2,4.
RACE 4
DAITANNA (13) grows a leg for hoop Graham who has two wins from as many steers and is racing very consistently of late. Hard to knock mares in form and should be right there at the business end again. KEEP SAFE (4) resumes here but has tuned up for this with a recent trial victory and has a win and a second from three spins around this circuit. Sure to run a big race while fresh. VIALE (6) has placed two from two over this course and distance and gets some weight relief with the 1.5kg claim. In the mix. HE'S FOR THE GIRLS (2) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be slept on.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Daitanna.
RACE 5
ACAPULCO GIRL (4) returned in fine fashion with a strong victory around this circuit and will have come on with that run now under the belt. Is yet to miss a quinella spot in four starts at this track and winning rider Thompson sticks in the stirrups. Goes on top. LUMENS LENNY (7) is yet to miss a drum in four attempts over this track and trip and will be rock-hard fit for this. Likely to play a major role in the outcome. JUNGLE LAW (3) saves her best form for this distance range and gets some weight off with the 1.5kg claim. Top-three aspirations. JOY A PLENTY (10) doesn't know how to run a bad race and is a must for the exotics players. RUBYDOO (14) best of the rest from the favourable draw.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Acapulco Girl to go back-to-back to start the campaign.
RACE 6
VERMILION KIRIN (3) got a well-deserved victory at the latest effort and will have derived a stack of confidence from that win. Has to be included from the low draw. HEAVENLY LOVE (5) has been plying his trade in harder races in town and should appreciate the drop back in grade here. Looks well placed against this line-up. DREAM THINKER (9) has two wins and a second from his past three efforts and must be respected out of the Gollan yard. Top-three prospects. ARIZONA DREAMING (1) rounds out the selections in a wide open affair.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Vermilion Kirin gets the nod.
RACE 7
The well-related OUR JEWEL (2) (half to G1 winner Divine Prophet) placed over this track and trip when resuming before maybe suffering from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time out. Strips fitter third-up from the break and maps ideally for this from gate five. Should be right there when the judge calls a halt. MISS FLEETWOOD (6) also hails from a handy family (half to G3 winner and G2 placed Rise Of The Masses) and gets 2kg off from the favourable draw. Right in this contest. BRITANNIA ROSE (14) saves her best form for this distance range and looks to have a bit of upside. Top-three commodity. COOL MUSIC (1) just missed the frame in town last time out and will find this a touch easier. Can feature in the finish. SWANFELS (13) next in line in a race with a stack of chances.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Our Jewel.
RACE 8
YEAH COPY (7) is a consistent conveyance who has hit the top-five in eight of his past nine starts and rarely puts in a poor one. Has placed two from two over this course and distance and only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be featuring in the finish. The well-related WEST CORK (14) (half to G1 winner Qafila) has only missed a drum once in five starts over this track and trip and will strip fitter second-up from the spell. Right in this contest. SIR MEMPHIS (5) broke the maiden status last time out and will have derived a stack of confidence from that breakthrough victory. Gets 2kg off and can go right on with the job now. BRAVE HORATIUS (9) is drawn to get a gun run from the inside alley and shouldn't be discounted lightly. In the mix.
SUGGESTED PLAY: Boxed Quinella 7,14,5.
