Travis Head delivered his most decisive innings of the IPL season, powering Sunrisers Hyderabad to a record chase against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.

After a quiet start to the campaign without a half-century in eight innings, Head produced a blistering 76 from 30 balls to anchor the pursuit of 5-243.

The target had been set by a dominant Mumbai effort led by Ryan Rickelton, whose unbeaten 123 came off just 44 deliveries, the fastest century in the franchise's history.

Sunrisers required an aggressive opening, and Head combined with Abhishek Sharma for a 129-run stand in 8.4 overs. Sharma contributed 45, while Head struck eight sixes and four fours in a high-tempo display that shifted the momentum early.

The innings was not without fortune. Head was dropped three times by Naman Dhir, each a difficult chance, and also survived an unappealed edge through to the keeper.

He reached his half-century from 20 balls, aided by a boundary catch that turned into six when Dhir stepped onto the rope.

Head also took on Jasprit Bumrah, launching a 99-metre straight six, as Mumbai's attack struggled to contain the surge.

With the platform set, Heinrich Klaasen finished the job with an unbeaten 65 from 30 balls. Sunrisers reached 4-249 with eight balls remaining, completing the highest successful chase at the venue.

Captain Pat Cummins indicated the target had appeared within reach given modern scoring rates, noting that expectations around chasing totals had shifted significantly in recent years.

He also pointed to his side's depth in strokeplay as a key factor in the pursuit.

Cummins had earlier contributed with the ball, conceding just six runs in a late over while Rickelton was set.

The victory marked Sunrisers' second consecutive win since his return and lifted the side to third on the table, strengthening their position in the race for the playoffs.
