Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire has brushed aside external criticism as his side navigates a challenging period marked by injuries and early season scrutiny.

Brisbane opened the 2026 campaign with consecutive losses to the Penrith Panthers and Parramatta Eels, prompting questions around the defending premiers despite their success last season.

Pressure intensified following confirmation that Payne Haas would depart for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, while the resignation of assistant coach Ben Te'o added further disruption.

However, the Broncos have responded strongly, stringing together three consecutive victories to move back into finals contention and stabilise their campaign.

Maguire has remained firm in his approach, downplaying criticism of his coaching methods, including suggestions that his training regime is overly demanding.

Speaking ahead of Brisbane's clash with the North Queensland Cowboys, Maguire indicated he places little weight on external commentary, emphasising the importance of internal belief and alignment within the playing group.

He suggested the squad remains fully committed to the team's preparation and standards, noting that strong internal cohesion has been key to their recent turnaround.

Despite ongoing injury concerns, Brisbane are aiming for a fourth straight win as they continue to build momentum and reinforce their premiership credentials.
