St George Illawarra Dragons' coaching overhaul has deepened, with assistant coach Michael Ennis reportedly departing the club following the exits of head coach Shane Flanagan and football boss Ben Haran.

The Dragons confirmed on Monday that Flanagan and Haran had left after a poor start to the NRL season.

A report from The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday indicated Ennis has now also exited, ending his short tenure as part of the club's coaching staff.

Ennis had joined this season as attacking coach, working alongside fellow assistant Dean Young, who handled defensive duties.

The pair formed part of a revamped structure under Flanagan, with Ennis reunited with his former premiership-winning coach from Cronulla in 2016.

Young has since been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the 2026 campaign.

A former Dragons forward with 209 games for the club, he was also part of their 2010 premiership side and has previously stepped into the role on an interim basis in 2020.

Chief executive Tim Watsford backed the decision, noting Young's strong connection to the club and the respect he commands within the playing group.

Young acknowledged the responsibility, indicating his focus is on guiding the team through a challenging period.

That challenge is considerable. The Dragons are on a club-record 11-game losing streak and sit at the bottom of the ladder heading into Round 8, two wins behind 16th-placed Gold Coast.

Attention now turns to the Anzac Day fixture against the Sydney Roosters, where the Dragons will attempt to halt their slide.

Without a win so far this season, they face the prospect of their first wooden spoon since the joint venture began in 1999.
