Emanating from a little town called Dunedoo, Hugh Bowman has now become one of the main riders in the country but also much sought after around the world.
Bowman moved to Sydney under the stewardship of legendary jockey Ron Quinton and despite breaking his arm early in the season still managed to ride 65 winners.
Bowman rode his first Group 1 winner aboard the Guy Walter-trained Defier in the 2004 Doomben Cup.
Finishing runner up to Darren Beadman in the 2004/05 Sydney jockeys premiership, Bowman has been among the top echelon of riders since, finally claiming his first title in 2008/09 with 60 winners.
For all of his record in Sydney and his Group 1 tally, he will forever be linked with the great one Winx.
Their association was a racing dream and every move he made, she was willing to follow in her 25 G1 victories.
Bowman has received acclaim for his elite riding in distance races with many Derbys and Oaks on the mantelpiece.
