On the 25th of April, one of Australia's most cherished national days comes to life at the iconic Royal Randwick Racecourse and we were there to capture every solemn and moving moment.
Before the thundering hooves and the roar of the crowd, the racecourse paused to honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our nation. The commemorative ANZAC ceremony was held at 1:30pm, bringing together racegoers, veterans, and families in a heartfelt tribute to our ANZACs. Randwick City Council
Sprigs of rosemary, the flower of remembrance , were handed out at the gates, and the atmosphere shifted from festivity to quiet reverence as the Last Post rang out across the historic grandstand. Randwick City Council
Royal Randwick holds deep historical significance on ANZAC Day. During both WWI and WWII, Sydney's racecourses were utilised by the military for training and recruitment, and racing was kept going as it was seen as being good for morale. That proud tradition continues to this day
