Jason Day’s daring Masters outfit is toned down by Augusta officials.
Jason Day has once again found his fashion choices under scrutiny at The Masters, with officials stepping in to block part of his planned outfit for the 2026 edition.
The former world number one, set to make his 15th appearance at Augusta, had intended to wear a bold, bird-themed ensemble designed in collaboration with Malbon Golf for the opening round. However, tournament organisers known for their strict traditions asked him to tone down the look by replacing the patterned trousers with solid colours.
Day has still been permitted to wear the "Birds of Georgia" jacket, allowing part of the concept to remain on display.
This is not the first time Augusta officials have intervened in Day's wardrobe. During the 2024 Masters, he was asked to remove a vest featuring prominent branding, which he did out of respect for the tournament.
Away from Augusta, his bold fashion choices have been more freely accepted. At The Open Championship in 2025, he wore a striking sweater featuring a playing card design while competing at Royal Portrush.
The creative direction behind his 2026 Masters wardrobe comes from Malbon Golf founder Stephen Malbon, who revealed the bird-themed concept was inspired by nature and symbolism, with different birds representing different meanings.
Malbon also said the idea encourages players to stay connected with nature, suggesting it could even help their performance on the course.
Beyond the clothing, the brand is hosting lifestyle-focused events during Masters week to promote individuality and interests outside of golf.
