Hailing from New Zealand, Michael Walker is a regular at Melbourne's Metropolitan tracks, riding for some of the leading stables in Victoria.
With two Group 1 New Zealand Derbies to his name, the natural lightweight jockey has continued to have success at the top level, claiming his first Australian Group 1 winner aboard Danestorm in the 2004 Brisbane Cup.
Riding regularly for stables such as Hayes & Dabernig, in 2014/15 Walker rode an impressive 132 winners for the season also claiming Group 1 victories on Criterion in the Caulfield Stakes and Spillway in the Australia Cup.
