History
The Gold Coast Guineas is a Group 3 race for three-year-olds conducted by the Gold Coast Turf Club as a feature of its premier May race meeting.
The Gold Coast Guineas was run for the first time in 2000 over 1400m under set weight conditions.
The Gold Coast Guineas remained a 1400m event until 2005 and has been run over 1200m since 2006.
The Gold Coast Guineas became a Listed Race in 2006 and was elevated to Group 3 in 2008.
It was run at Sunshine Coast in 2023 due to the redevelopment of the Gold Coast turf track and there again in 2024.
The 2026 Gold Coast Guineas was worth $200,000.
Horses that had G1 credentials to have won the Guineas include King's Chapel, Eremein, Fashions Afield, Gold Edition and Takedown.
Notable winners of the Gold Coast Guineas include Make Mine Magic, Miss Bussell, Eremein, Fashions Afield, Gold Edition, El Cambio, Military Rose, Academus, Dothraki, Nostradamus, Takedown and Beadman.
The 2026 Gold Coast Guineas was won by Beadman from Nepo Baby and Motorsports.
